Two months ago Open AI’s artificial intelligence beat the world’s best Dota 2 player in a one versus one battle. Unlike chess or go, Dota 2 doesnt have any simple rules that can be converted into algorithms for the AI. Instead it was merely given the controls, a goal, and time. It learned how to play just from two weeks of failures against itself until it was better than every human. This is the first complex, non algorithmic victory for AI and it is slightly terrifying because it means they can learn tasks more complicated than simple logic based rules, such as dealing with unpredictability on the jobsite or human error. AI is becoming so developed it is only a matter of time before it fully integrates into our society. But we are not†¦show more content†¦Like a centaur, the hybrid would have the strength of each of its components: the processing power of a large logic circuit and the intuition of a human brain’s wetware.† He proved, through chess which was the first AI vs human milestone, that humans working with computers can achieve better results for complex tasks than either could achieve alone. While computers will replace humans in easy jobs, complex tasks will require them to work together for the best results.. I agree with Clive Thomson that certain jobs will require working alongside machines however, and more simplistic jobs will still be taken over completely leaving a large portion of the population unemployed. A soon to be unemployed society needs to stop fearing a basic income system, tying income to work is justifiable, but when jobs are disappearing faster than new ones rise, it is instead irrational. Clay Dillow and Brooks Rainwater, in an article called â€Å"Why Free Money for Everyone is Silicon Valley’s Next Big Idea† written in 2017, argues that basic income needs to be setup before artificial intelligence enters the workforce.
